It’s dangerous to drive when you’re tired, so you need to know what to do to wake yourself up a little. Learn about this so the next time you have to take a long drive, you’ll be able to make yourself more aware and alert.
1. The Rest
The first thing to do if possible would be to pull over your car so that you can get in a quick nap. You can either pull off in a safe area, or you can get into a town where you can stay at a hotel or motel. Try getting a coffee or two or an energy drink. The only problem with this is that when the caffeine wears off, you may be a lot more tired than you were before. 3. The Cold Temperature
One great thing to try would be to lower the temperature in your vehicle for a little while. It’s a little harder to fall asleep if you’re not too comfortable, so this may help you to stay awake for a little longer. Just be sure that you’re not making it so cold that you have trouble functioning properly. You’ll just need it to be a little cooler to keep you on your toes as you try to make it to a place where you can rest.
4. The Music
Try putting on some music you don’t like very much. Something that’s not too relaxing or something you really enjoy. You’ll want to turn the volume up so that it’s distracting you and keeping you awake. Figure out where a radio station is that will play music for you that you know you won’t enjoy all that much. It may be annoying, but it’s better than waking up after falling asleep behind the wheel in an accident. Just don’t have it up so loud that you’re unable to concentrate on your driving just to be sure you’re as safe as you can be.
